In Memory

Ettore, Mark, and Chema

The GNOME family lost three of our closest members during the last release cycle. All three were passionate about GNOME, and free software, and all were young. This release is dedicated to them and to their memories; happy hacking, dudes.

Chema Celorio

Chema hacked on gnomeprint, gnumeric, and the ximian setup tools (later GNOME Setup Tools.) He also initiated and organized the gnome-love project. At Ximian, he also led the HPUX and Desktop teams before moving into sales. Chema passed away in November while pursuing his other passion, skydiving, where he had completed over a thousand jumps.

Mark Finlay

Mark (also known as sisob in IRC) contributed to a number of GNOME projects, including the bugsquad and usability team, and pushed for the creation of the gnomesupport.org forums. Mark passed away in January, having just completed his first semester at university.

Ettore Perazzoli

Ettore hacked on a number of GNOME projects, including gnome-vfs, Evolution, and f-spot. At Ximian, he led the Evolution team. Ettore passed away in December.
